Well my wife and I have been undergoing a few home projects this winter and we decided to upgrade the lighting in our powder room and master bath. Also, I’m in the beginning stages to finishing my basement and adding a theater room, bar and game area. It should be done in about three years! Ha!
Anyway, I’d like to share a web site that we found some of the light fixtures we decided to upgrade to.
In the powder room, a tiny one, approx 5′ x 3′ we ended up choosing a light that looked elegant but also was not too big for the small space. The light we both agreed on is the
Ansonia Collection by Kichler Lighting.
Now down in my basement where I am hoping some day to have a HD Projector displaying on a 96″ screen, a new bar and wine area and a seating area, we are going to need some decent lighting to make the basement an entertaining room in our home. Over the bar I’ve always liked accent lighting or pendant lighting, such as these lamps from the Olympia Collection of Kichler Lighting.
Once we get things ordered and setup, I’ll take a few pictures and update this post or ad a new one.

Well if you are reading this post maybe you stumbled onto it from a Google search or other search engine, but the end result is these annoying phone calls!
The little bit about this phone number that I am aware of:
- originates from Hamilton, OH (suburb of Cincinnati)
- sometimes no one on the phone, hangs up or dead air
- sometimes people say they are from various radio stations or surveys
- usually rude (well I guess you’d have to be since you’re calling people every night!)
- i don’t think they are breaking the Do Not Call law since they aren’t really telemarketers, at least that is what I’ve been reading about. To me, ANYONE that calls me at home or cell that I don’t know or am associated with is a telemarketer.
Anyway I am receiving these calls every night for the past two weeks, usually anywhere from 6pm to 8pm or so. I’ve gotten to the point where I no longer answer the phone — and it’s my cellphone!! The best thing about it going to my cell is that I now added the number to my contact list and can tell when these scammers are calling me. So if you have a cell phone here’s a little trick I just did to not get interrupted by the ring (Song) on my cell.
Here’s what I did:
- don’t answer the call
- Store/Save the number, 513-531-3690 (or manually enter it now!) in your contact list
- set the name to 513 Scam Don’t Answer
- also set the ringer to SILENT (can’t answer what you can’t hear!)
- you may have to clear the “missed calls” from your phone, but I do that anyway
Here are some links to sites with more information and comments from the rest of the folks that are just as annoyed as you and I!

I stumbled across this pretty cool sounding web site earlier today. It’s called Shoeboxed.com. Basically it helps manage and track all of your online or physical receipts in one place, a “virtual shoebox”. This is great news as we can now reclaim one of the drawers in our kitchen where we have been stuffing receipts!
Wow, the COOL thing about this service is I will be able to pull up a receipt (if needed) from home, work, while on vacation…anywhere!
Not convinced that this might help you? Think about this, my parents had a house fire in June 2007 that destroyed everything. They are still in the process of dealing with their insurance provider, USAA, on content. They spent the better part of 3 weeks thinking of everything they owned and had to give an estimated cost and how long the item was owned. Image if ALL of this information was readily available online! Click click click, print! voila!!
If you needed to know if ShoeBoxed will also manage printed store receipts the answer from their FAQs is:
Yes! Take a digital photo of your receipts, or scan them into your computer. Then you can use the simple Shoeboxed Receipt Uploader which will automatically add these receipts to your Shoeboxed account.
So give them a look if you are like us and like to track receipts and not have them lost, or worse yet, thrown away!
